Bilingual School

Christliche Schule Kandern (CSK), like it’s parent partner schools, Freie Evangelische Schule (FES) in Lörrach, and the Black Forest Academy (BFA), is a Christian school. It currently is for grades 1-3, and is legally overseen by the school board of the FES.

An All-Day School

CSK offers an all-day school with lunch and afternoon program. Children attend school from 9:00 to 15:40. Lesson plans are based on the State of Baden-Württemberg educational elementary school requirements, and follow a joint curriculum designed by FES Lörrach and BFA to be taught in English and German.

Bilingual Education

Students at CSK learn in a bilingual and bicultural environment. Languages are taught by immersion by experienced mother-tongue teachers. Lessons will incorporate themes from both German and English speaking cultures.

Partnering school

FES is the sponsoring school and overseer of CSK. It has a current attendance of 1565 students in its state recognized schools in Lörrach, Schöpfheim, and Waldshut.

We Are Globally Minded

We want to expose our CSK students to a wide range of opportunities in order to develop a broadened worldview. Our aim is to give them an awareness of beauty and diversity, awaken the joy of discovery, and give them a desire to participate in their world. Through exposure to the multicultural environment in the class room, with both German and English speaking children and teachers, we facilitate an openness to the unique qualities of the other culture and encourage a natural interaction with people of different nationalities and cultures.
