Here at Black Forest Academy, our staff are educators, teachers, athletic coaches, advisers, counselors, resident assistants, dorm parents, and mentors. We have a passion for bringing excellence into all areas of a student’s experience here at BFA. There are currently 165 staff members with over 1,000 years experience combined. They come from all over the world: the United States of America, Canada, Australia, UK, Europe, and more.

Joyce Herrington

Elementary Art/PE, TeacherJim and Joyce Herrington, with East West Ministries, International, became part of the BFA family in the fall of 2009. Joyce teaches second and third grade at BFAS. Jim uses Kandern as a base for his travels to Central Asia where he oversees East West involvement in various ministries. The Herringtons have four daughters. The three older daughters all work in the United States. Their youngest, Hannah, is an eighth grader at BFA.
Joyce grew up as an MK in Japan and graduated from Tabor College with a degree in Elementary Education. The last seven years she worked with women's ministries in Krasnodar Russia. Along the way, she has taught in Christian and public schools. She enjoys hiking, reading, gardening, cooking, and travel.
Jim graduated from Dallas Baptist College and then went to Dallas Theological Seminary, where he earned a ThM in Old Testament. He worked for Electronic Data Systems eleven years after pastoring a church in Nebraska. He loves working on computers and keeping in touch with his daughters.

Worked as a graphic designer at a small print shop in Minneapolis from 2007-2010.
Now teaching graphic arts and drawing at BFA since 2010.
