Here at Black Forest Academy, our staff are educators, teachers, athletic coaches, advisers, counselors, resident assistants, dorm parents, and mentors. We have a passion for bringing excellence into all areas of a student’s experience here at BFA. There are currently 165 staff members with over 1,025 years experience combined. They come from all over the world: the United States of America, Canada, Australia, UK, Europe, and more.

Wayne Thompson
Registrar/Testing Services, Support StaffThe Thompsons joined the BFA staff in 2002. Wayne is working in the Guidance Department and Judy serves as the admissions secretary. Previous MK education experience was gained in Indonesia at Sentani International School in Irian Jaya and Bandung Alliance School. These years in teaching were followed by teaching assignments at the Alliance Academy in Quito, Ecuador. Judy also has earlier elementary school teaching experience in public and Christian schools in PA, KY and VA. They have two boys (one is married and one at Cornerstone University) and are missionaries with the Christian and Missionary Alliance.

Joy Watson
M.S. - English/ELL, TeacherTim and Joy Watson come to BFA with over twenty years experience in ministry in North America, Europe, and Asia. Tim and Joy both grew up in Phoenix, AZ. They are graduates of Scottsdale Christian Academy, an ACSI school which Tim’s parents helped begin. Tim, an ordained pastor, has served as a campus minister at the University of Oregon, Pastor for International Students, and church planter in Eurasia. Tim is an avid reader, hunter, and fisherman and enjoys studying World War II history. He is currently developing leaders through church-based training and seminars on trauma, abuse, and deprivation.
Joy has taught English as a Second Language in China and helped begin a Christian international school where she served as Librarian and Middle School English Teaching Assistant. She has worked in seven different countries and has served alongside her husband in developing wives of church leaders. She enjoys reading, cooking, and beading with her daughter. Tim and Joy have two children, T.J. and Hannah, and enjoy family game nights and watching movies with them.

Jenna Wegrzynowicz
Guidance Counselor, Support StaffPrior Work or Ministry Experience:
As a Nationally Certified Counselor, Jenna gained clinical counseling experience working with children, adolescents, adults and elderly individuals, couples, and families from a diversity of socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds. Her experience includes intensive behavioral day treatment therapy, trauma and play therapy interventions, addictions counseling, and group therapy interventions. Her background also includes children's summer camp counseling and leadership in young women's ministry to students in the public middle and high school settings. Some of her favorite work and life experiences have come through the four and a half years she served in Residential Life as an Undergraduate Resident Chaplain at Lee University and Graduate Resident Assistant to Regent University.

Other Background:
Jenna's love for culture and travel began in 1995 as an exchange student to France. In 2001, during her years spent growing up as a TCK in Japan, she realized her life's calling to full-time ministry and the mission field. Jenna considers the vast variety of friendships she has formed over the years and across to be one of life's greatest gifts. She is passionate about walking alongside others in life through mentorship and relationship and longs to see lives made whole through the love of Christ. Her other interests include running, photography, painting, gardening, and baking.



Erin White
Assistant, Res. LifeErin has served on short-term mission trips to Brazil, Italy, and Uganda. After college I spent 5 months volunteering for a non-proft organization called International Children's Network (ICN). They had a children's choir from Uganda named Matsiko traveling around the western United states on tour and I joined them to help as a chaperone and help with merchandise and other tour needs.

Jill Young
Department Head English, H.S. - English, TeacherJill is head of the English Department and teaches grade twelve and Advanced Placement English. She is a missionary with Janz Team Ministries.
