Spiritual Life

Spiritual Life is one of the BFA experiences that students remember most. All of them are challenged to examine their personal response to Jesus Christ, and those who desire to grow in their faith have numerous opportunities. Many students are involved in prayer groups and small group Bible studies in student residences or the homes of staff members. Weekly chapel services include lively singing led by students and meaningful messages from staff or guest speakers. Students can put their faith into action by helping teach Sunday School classes, performing in drama or sign team ministries, or participating in annual service opportunities, German outreach, and other activities. There is also an English language church, Black Forest Christian Fellowship (BFCF), that meets for worship in the BFA auditorium. All dormitory students are expected to attend Sunday church services, at either BFCF or another local church body.

Our Programs

Here at BFA we have a weekly chapel program for all grades. Each student takes a Bible course as a core subject every year while at BFA. The Chaplain’s Office directs the high school small group program and provides many other opportunities for spiritual growth, including a mid-week youth program called Chrysalis, the Spiritual Emphasis Week, the winter High School Retreat, outreaches in nearby cities, and many service opportunities in other countries during Easter break.
