WHO WE ARE

KEEP SCROLLING

OUR FOUNDATION

THE HEART OF OUR COMMUNITY

From its beginning up to the present, BFA has been a school with a clear mission and purpose. These foundational statements provide a unique window into our heart as a school community.

OUR MISSION

Black Forest Academy provides a quality, international Christian education that equips its students to influence their world through biblical thought, character, and action.

OUR CORE VALUES

Truth, Transformation, Influence, Community, Global-Mindedness

 OUR GLOBAL ENDS
COMMITMENT

BFA will be a resource for excellence in transformational Christian education, producing well-prepared students at a cost that empowers global mission initiatives.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

BFA adheres to the World Evangelical Alliance statement of faith.

A FAMILY’S STORY

TRANSFORMING LIVES

“We are so grateful to God that we found BFA. We have been involved in education our entire lives and we haven’t found anything quite like it. The BFA experience has transformed our daughter’s life.”

OUR CALLING

we do things differently

The staff at BFA are extraordinarily dedicated to our students and our mission. As part of our commitment to keeping school fees low for the families of Christian field workers, our staff raise the funds they need to live and work in Germany. This means that by the time a staff member arrives, they have already spent months or years actively preparing to serve at BFA: joining a Christian sending agency, developing a prayer support network, sharing with interested churches and individuals about their work and BFA’s mission, and raising the funds needed to serve here.

The result is a staff team with both professional competence and a level of commitment and dedication that is impossible to explain outside of God’s calling to serve at BFA.

AN ALUMNUS’ STORY

A HEART OF SERVICE

“Like many of my peers, I’ve attended many schools over the years in a variety of locations and cultures. This is the only place I have experienced where the desire and action to help a student thrive and grow mentally, emotionally and spiritually is not just found in one or two ‘favorite’ teachers, but is embodied in the core ethos of the entire staff and lived out authentically both in and out of the classroom.”

OUR LEADERSHIP

STEWARDING THROUGH SERVANTHOOD

Black Forest Academy is led by our Head of School and guided by an executive leadership team. Our Board governs in accordance with our Constitution and the Policy Governance® model. In this model, the Board governs through the creation of Ends (an articulation of our ultimate purposes) and Policy (parameters that ensure BFA is functioning in keeping with best practices and the Christian values and beliefs articulated in the school Constitution).

By providing clarity of mission, institutional parameters, and the room for innovation and professional expertise, the Policy Governance® model has played a key role in BFA’s flourishing during the last decade.
